What it's like to be late for work

I finally realized what it feels like to be late for work.

Yep, I now have the ability to empathize with the thousands of you who commute during rush hour and arrive to work either half-ready, half-crazed and half-wishing you would have just planned ahead.

The thing is, I actually got to work early -- somewhere in the neighborhood of 3:25 or so.

And yes, to avoid confusion, that would be 3:25 a.m.

However, during the time between my arrival and getting seated at the news desk a few days back, so many things happened that I was still trying to pin on my microphone and check my posture while the opening music of ABC15 Daybreak was starting.

I really dislike that unsettled feeling.  I also really hope my boss doesn't read this blog entry.  Hi Joe.

Anyway, it got me thinking. If you're one of those half-crazed commuters who comes whirling into work with seconds to spare, how do you do it?

Leave a comment - let me know.

Beside, we may even read it on the air if you have a great story to share.

After all - you've got thousands of other commuters to commiserate with, and one morning anchor.

ps - Joe, it'll never happen again.  :)

I was feeling kind of sorry for you because no one seems to be answering your blogs, so I thought I'd write to say, you guys are awesome!  I think it's really refreshing that your morning show is an all women team!  No Hooners or D'Amico's to gab on and on about Mesa or "my boat!"

And that Tara looks like her eyes are about to pop out of her skull!

All of you are super talented and stylish and attractive.  I'll bet that D'Amico really misses Jenn.  No one seems to laugh at his jokes anymore!

I teach defensive driving on the weekends and most of the people in the class are there for speeding, (what a surprise) using the excuse that they were late for work.
I heard that there are @10,000 people coming to Maricopa County a month and I think only three are leaving. This makes our commute pretty stressful. I tell my classes that we have two options, one is to leave for work much earlier and give yourself more drivetime or just realize your late and don't let the traffic congestion
stress you out. We can overcome that flustered feeling when you arrive at the work place by taking some deep breaths and I believe a good laugh, before you get out of the car. (laughter is good for quite a few ailments) A good excuse wouldn't hurt either.

Take care & drive aware,
Instructor Bob

PS - I agree with Barb Beneteau's comments, you and your team are great!
